Featured on the Fields Notes Homepage
Close to a year ago I had access to a laser etcher on the campus of Virginia Tech. Before that year I had never used one; and for that matter, I had never heard of using one for art. Once I realized how versatile the laser etcher was, I etched damn near everything I had (iPhone, writing portfolio, external hard drives, my MacBook Pro, etc…).
I showed the guys at NewCity some of the stuff I cut and Brian Maddox, the Creative Director there, got the idea to burn our newly rebranded company logo onto his Field Notes book. Some time had passed and Dave Perks, our old copyrighter, met someone with Field Notes and told him about our laser etched book. He was curious to see it, and when he did he liked it so much that he put it on the homepage of Field Notes. Here’s the link to the archived post featuring our work. And if you read the copy on the image below you’ll see that they do refer to me as “Glenn ‘Helvetica Tramp Stamp’ Sorrentino.”
That’s right.
