How I get the most out of my iPhone - so far
We have everything we need to stay connected - to clients, employers, friends, and just yourself - and it fits in our pocket. I recently started using my iPhone for more than just an iPod, address book and camera... if this sounds like your habits, keep reading.
I never used my email on the phone because I was using POP - big mistake for my purposes. I recently switched to IMAP, which is essentially a direct connection to your mail server, allowing the client program to manipulate messages on your mail server (deleting, marking as spam, marking as read, etc). So with IMAP accounts added to your phone and computer, you never have to worry about reading a message on your phone, only to get back to your computer to see that you have a new message waiting which ends up being the same as before - though it will be in your client program, unless you deleted it. Next, at work we use Google Calendar, but I don't necessarily like keeping an internet browser open all of the time. So using CalDAV accounts on my computer and on my iPhone (though you're only allowed one on the phone via a Microsoft Exchange account), I sync my Google calendar to both devices, with both being able to make changes that will reflect if you look at your schedule online, on the phone or on the computer. Here's the bottom line - keeping your phone synced with the information on your computer - contacts, mail accounts, music, notes, calendars, voice memos, etc. and using relevant apps to your purpose - GPS, Twitter, Facebook, etc. will always keep you connected anywhere you are with a cell or internet connection.
